The 10-Hour Audit: Find the Tasks Worth Automating This Week

A 20-minute exercise to identify exactly which executive tasks deserve AI automation — and which ones don't.

WorkflowAutomation

Before you build anything, audit. Most automation projects fail because they automate the wrong work.

Use this 20-minute exercise.

Step 1 — Track for 3 days

Log every task in 15-minute blocks. Be honest. Include the "I just need to check one thing" detours.

Step 2 — Score each task

For every recurring task, ask:

  • Frequency — daily, weekly, monthly?
  • Decision weight — does it require judgment, or is it pattern-matching?
  • Time cost — minutes per occurrence × frequency.

Anything daily + low-judgment + 5+ minutes is a prime candidate.

Step 3 — Pick the top 3

Don't try to automate everything. The best AI Chief of Staff builds start with three workflows that compound: inbox triage, meeting follow-ups, and a daily briefing.

Step 4 — Build or hire

You can DIY it with n8n if you have the time. Or we'll build, train, and hand it over in 7–10 days.

Either way — the audit is the unlock.
